Alex en Marc van Warmerdam

Multi-talent Alex van Warmerdam also has an anniversary to celebrate: with 'Nr. 10', the industrious Dutchman has released his tenth film. His equally talented brother Marc van Warmerdam is an essential part of the characteristic 'van Warmerdam style' full of absurd yet recognisable situations populated by bizarre and mysterious characters. He has been the producer of his brother's films since 'De jurk' (1996).

Alex's debut film 'Abel' earned him several Golden Calfs in 1986 and set the trend for the rest of his oeuvre. With 'Borgman' (2013), Marc received the Golden Calf for Best Dutch Film. This film was also selected for the official competition of the Cannes Film Festival.

Together, Marc and Alex van Warmerdam also founded the theatre companies Orkater and De Mexicaanse Hond, with whom they made successful productions such as 'Broers' (1980) and 'Bij het kanaal naar links' (2011). High time, therefore, to crown their work with a Lifetime Achievement Award!
