15 years Ostend Film Festival
Out of pure love for cinema, a small core of film lovers has, through trial and error, built up a festival with its own dynamic.
The Ostend Film Festival is an annual boost for those who love the better cinema. The recurring focus on Flemish film offers a unique perspective on the film profession in Flanders. Our selection from the international film, the cinematographic pearls in the LOOK! competition, promising filmmakers who make their first or second film at international festivals in the SOON! competition and the Flemish and Dutch co-productions in the COOP! competition, further contribute to a complementary programme with international appeal.
One of the highlights is undoubtedly the presentation of De Ensors, the Flemish film awards. In addition, for the first time in 2021, De Jamies, the online video awards, are presented.
Since the start of the festival in 2007, both national and international talent has shone on our red carpet. Our guests were always given their star on our Walk of Fame on the seafront.
Among the most important guests of the past years are Jean-Claude Van Damme, Rupert Everett, Bille August, Pierce Brosnan, Adrien Brody, Moran Atias, Steven Knight, Anton Corbijn, Jane Birkin, Jennifer Saunders, Michel Piccoli, Tahar Rahim, Dominic Cooper, Ben Elton, Rik Mayall, John Nettles, Jeroen Krabbé, Sofie Gråbøl, Jan Bijvoet, Veerle Baetens, Monica Bellucci and of course Matthias Schoenaerts.
