Als winnaar kwam 'Nieuwkomers' van Camille Ghekiere uit de bus.

Deze korte film benadert zijn thema op een frisse en onbevangen manier. De maker toont de personages alsook hun afkomst in hun kracht, zonder slachtoffers van hen te maken, maar ook zonder hun obstakels te ontkennen of te minimaliseren. Wij vonden het charmant en warm om een documentaire over dit complexe onderwerp benaderd te zien met dans en muziek.

José Daniel Granados Carranza graduated from the RITCS as a Master in Audiovisual Arts. With his Bachelor film 'Yibril' he was selected in 2016 for the 22nd International Short Film Festival in Leuven. There he won the VAF WILDCARD FICTION. This was followed by a successful international festival trail with more than 20 international selections. With the VAF WildCard, the director shot 'LOS VEO' in Mexico. This film was nominated for the Ensor best short film in 2022.

Frederike Migom is a director and screenwriter. Her feature debut 'Binti' (2019) had its US premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and won multiple awards. Currently, Frederike is developing her second feature film 'Tegenwoordig heet iedereen Sorry'.
